Gender in Advertising

This photo is clearly specifically for men. The advertisement is for Hunky Dory chips. The ad shows a female with large breasts, which any man looking at the ad would not miss. The ad also says that they chips are proud supporters of Gaelic Football. This ad could be posted at bars, where males gather to drink and watch football, and seeing this ad would leave a memory in their mind about the chips, while really just remembering the woman on this ad. This ad is very appealing to males, because it has two things all men like, sports and women, on the same page. The overall effect of this ad is to first stare at the woman, see the comment "Still staring?", laugh it off, and then finally see the chips and that they support Gaelic Football. Gaelic football fans will now be attracted to these chips, and so will many other men who see this add.

Hamlet's Office Supply Store

Rosencrantz & Guildenstern
- These characters would be post-it-notes because they are used by Claudias to spy on Hamlet and see what is causing him to be crazy. They are like notes because a somethings can be written down on them for someone to read, and they report back to Claudias with information about Hamlet.

But we both obey,
And here give up ourselves, in the full bent
To lay our service freely at your feet,
To be commanded.

Loyal to the king and queen willing to spy on hamlet and report back to them.

Hamlet
- Hamlet would be scissors because scissors can be used to cut apart and destroy somethings, and Hamlet hurts many people around him. Scissors are sharp and can cause harm, and Hamlet causes harm to Ophelia, and kills Polonius.

"Get thee to a nunnery: why wouldst thou be a
breeder of sinners? I am myself indifferent honest;
but yet I could accuse me of such things that it
were better my mother had not borne me: I am very
proud, revengeful, ambitious, with more offences at
my beck than I have thoughts to put them in,
imagination to give them shape, or time to act them
in. What should such fellows as I do crawling
between earth and heaven? We are arrant knaves,
all; believe none of us. Go thy ways to a nunnery."

He offends Ophelia which causes her to begin to go crazy.

Ophelia
- She would be a paper clip because a paperclip can be used to hold things together but can also be bent out of shape. Ophelia held on to sanity as long as she could just like a paper clip can hold papers together until there are too many and they don't fit into the clip. Ophelia was also changed just like a paper clip can be bent out of shape. She went from being an innocent girl to a crazy girl, which led to her killing herself.

"I shall obey my Lord"- being respectful and innocent
"Divided from herself and her fair judgment,
Without the which we are pictures, or mere beasts" - goes crazy

Flowers R US

Ophelia- Bouquet of white and red roses.
- White roses stand for purity and innocence. Red roses stand for love. Ophelia was an innocent girl in love with Hamlet. As these flowers would slowly wilt, it would represent how Ophelia didn't seem so innocent anymore after Hamlet called her out to be a whore. The red roses represent her love for Hamlet as well as for her father Polonius. Her love for him was so great, after his death she killed herself too.

Horatio- Bouqet of Alstroemerias
- Alstroemerias stand for friendship. Horatio was the only friend go stuck alongside Hamlet during the whole play. He kept Hamlets secrets and helped him during the play to see if Claudias would react to the reenactment of the killing of king Hamlet.

Gertrude- Bouqet of Dark Red Roses
- Roses stand for love, but the thorns can mean cause pain just like Gertrude does to Hamlet. By marrying Claudias and no mourning the loss of her husband, Hamlet is hurt by her actions. Although she hurts Hamlet, she is also loving to him because he is still her son.

Hamlet- Bouqet of Roses, Sanpdragons, and Amaryllis
- Roses stand for his love for his mother and father. He also loved Ophelia at one point. Sanpdragons stand for desire. Hamlet desired to be with Ophelia and also desired the courage to kill Claudias. Amaryllis stand for pride. Hamlet had pride in avenging his fathers death, although it took him a while to actually do it.

Sonnet

Madness = Death

His father killed, made him very upset.
He then saw his ghost, who explained his death.
His thoughts of revenge gave him the cold sweat
To avenge him, he would kill like Macbeth.
Pretending to be crazy was his new
Idea, while planning how to destroy
The man who killed his father, who he knew.
This plan, well thought out like the horse in Troy.
His once pretend madness, really turned out
To be a struggle between his gory
Thoughts and the images that hell brought about.
Madness changed his life and his whole story.
Madness took over his short life
Because his uncle made his mom his wife.

Going from normal to crazy is what
Happened to him, even though he was only
Suppose to pretend. He forces his smut
To kill herself, making him quite lonely.

Claudias-How is it that cloulds still hang on you?

Hamlet- I am too much i'the sun.

Gertrude- Stay with us.

Hamlet-I shall in all my best obey you, madam.

Horatio- Hail to your lordship.

Hamlet- Sir, my good friend.

Marcellus- My good lord.

Horatio- I came to see your father's funeral.
